Today I picked up six 30 gallon bags of oak leaves. As most of you know, I am always excited to save organics from the landfill. I will use some of the leaves in my pathways to keep the weeds down and a few will be added to my compost piles. According to the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension, oak leaves possess more woody substances, such as lignin, than the leaves from other tree species. They are very nutrient rich!
