Crazy spring weather. Although we really need the rain, we are taking advantage of the mild climate to put together more composting opportunities.
When we were visiting the Alameda Point Collaborative recently, we saw they had save bathtubs from the landfill and turned them into raised beds. We decided to try this in our own garden as we recently remodeled the bathroom and didn't have the heart to take the old tub to the landfill.
We put the tub in the garden at a slight slant, so the water would drain down hill. We start the bin with small rocks and then chopped up oak leaves with a bit of dirt. We proceeded with a 50/50 chopped oak leaves/llama poop and some unfinished compost. We hope to be successful and plant directly in the tub in the spring.
TAKE THAT GOPHERS!
